Women’s Swimming Update (Web Exclusive!)

This year the girls’s swim team is teeming with talent and this season is shaping up to be a stroke of success. The team has enjoyed practicing at Hamilton Rec and the waterslide always adds to the fun. Captain Yan Yan -fast-like-a-dolphin- H.(’10) has swum strong all season and is particularly talented in the 200 IM and 500 Free disciplines; she is even expected to place in the top five at the BCL championships. Oh snap. Captain Justine -brings-it-to-the-pool-as-well-as-the-court- L. (’11) is also a strong contributor of speed to the pool lanes and has been named first team in the 100 breast. Other key swimmers to watch are Kaitlyn L. (’10) who started swimming as a freshwoman and now is a strong contender in the 200 free. KC W. (’12) has returned to the pool after swimming earlier in her younger life and her future is rather bright in this chlorine filled arena. The team is also lucky to have many new swimmers join, such as Mina H. (’12), Zizi W. (’12), Alana W. (’13), Sammy L. (’12), Olga B. (’12), Jocelyn K.(’13), and Victoria F. (’11). So, the girls team now is 13 members strong, instead of the 6 from last season. Jocelyn -pure-beastliness- K. brings her A-game to the 100 free and 100 back and is a key member of the girls medley relay. With representation from all classes, Jocelyn K. (backstroke), Justine L.(breaststroke), Yan Yan H. (butterfly), and Molly S. (freestyle) were .02 seconds off NCS consideration time. Other highlights include recent wins against Head Royce and Bentley. The girls swimming team has a bright future both for the end of the season and for years to come. Go Devils!
